Broad St
Lines:
BMT Jamaica Line
List of closed areas:
Broad St was built as a newer terminal station for the BMT Jamaica Line when it was extended south of Chambers St in the 1930s, though it has also served as a regular through station for some services as recently as 2010.
The station, which was overbuilt with a long passage at its north end, has seen many areas closed off, all for different reasons. In the early 1990s, an entrance at the west side of Nassau Street between Pine Street & Wall Street, an entrance at the southwestern corner of Exchange Place and Broad Street, and an underpass between both platforms were closed due to security concerns. An entrance at the northwestern corner of Cedar Street and Nassau Street, which led to the north end of the station's long passage, was closed in the late 1990s and is now an emergency exit. Finally, after the September 11, 2001 attacks, two entrances at the southwestern corner of Wall Street and Wall Street were closed as a security perimeter was established around the NYSE building, which occupies the block the entrances were located at - one of the entrances was closed in 2002, and the other was closed in 2012 when the security perimeter was expanded, and the entrances were ultimately sealed in 2019.
