Kingsbridge Rd (IND Concourse Line)

IND Concourse Line
List of closed areas:
Kingsbridge Rd was built an express station with an important transfer to streetcars that ran under the line through the underpass at Kingsbridge Road.
The station's south end, which has a plethora of entrances, has seen many of the entrances closed due to security concerns. Two entrances to the southwestern and southeastern corners of Kingsbridge Road and Grand Concourse, which led to long passages before the station's southern fare control area, were closed in the 1990s. As a result, there are only entrances from this fare control area above the station to both northern corners of Kingsbridge Road and Grand Concourse.
More interestingly, however, is the fact that the underpass used to have platforms for trolleys and later on, buses. To make transfers easier for trolley passengers, there were stairs built from the trolley platforms themselves a pedestrian underpass under the platforms, along with stairs to the south side of the underpass. As a result, there were four staircases leading to the underpass below, but only the entrance from the north side of the underpass remains open today. The platforms were used for trolleys until they stopped running in 1948, and then for buses until they were demolished (and the entrances from the platforms slabbed over).
