Briarwood
Lines:
IND Queens Blvd Line
List of closed areas:
Briarwood, originally Van Wyck Blvd, was built as a local station.
The station was built with three set of entrances. Because of crime, however, the station has seen its western set closed off completely, along with part of its eastern set. The westernmost set had one entrance from slightly south of the southwestern corner of Queens Boulevard and the western Van Wyck Expressway service road (originally 137th Street). It was likely closed when the police precinct - which occupies most of the western portion of the mezzanine - was built. The closed entrance at the easternmost set was on the opposite side of the same service road as the open one from the easternmost set. It was built in anticipation of an "85th Avenue," and would have led to the southeastern corner of the intersection of that proposed street and the service road.
