Cypress Hills was built as a terminal station parallel to Crescent Street, until it was relocated to the end of a curve onto Jamaica Avenue around 25 years later as a regular station.
Like many of the stations on the Jamaica Line, the station was built with two entrance points. This station saw its eastern set, which led to the north and south sides of Jamaica Avenue between at Autumn Avenue, partly closed due to security concerns. While the entrance directly to the northbound platform was made exit-only, the entrance directly to the southbound platform was closed; the stair from the now-closed mezzanine to the street was demolished.
